Mr. Shaw joined HSR as Chief Operating Officer in early 2015. Mr. Shaw has a track record of delivering excellent real estate investment results for both public and private investors for over 20 years.  Prior to joining HSR, he was the SVP in charge of Asset Management at Pacific Living Properties in San Diego where he managed a large portfolio of apartments totaling approximately 5,000 units on the west coast in Washington and California.

From 2007 to 2013, he was a partner and officer of OliverMcMillan, a national developer and manager of mixed-use, multifamily, retail, and office properties across the US.  At OliverMcMillan, he was responsible for asset and property management including about 2,000 apartment units in Chicago, Houston, and San Diego.  He was also the co-head of the acquisitions and analysis teams at OliverMcMillan and a member of the Executive Committee.

From 1994 to 2007, Mr. Shaw was employed by the Farmers Group investment department.  At Farmers, a subsidiary of the Zurich Financial Services Group, he was an officer of the real estate holding company and was in charge of private real estate investments for Farmers with holdings which included over 8 million square feet of directly owned property, various joint ventures, and a private commercial real estate mortgage loan portfolio.

Mr. Shaw also has worked in analytical and managerial roles at PriceWaterhouse, General Electric Capital, Pacific Midwest Mortgage, and ValueRock Realty.

Mr. Shaw received his MBA in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and his BA in Economics from the University of California at Davis.  He is a member of the CFA Institute and he is a licensed real estate broker in California and Hawaii.
